Kaiser Saturday Sketch January # 4

Well this is my last sketch for Kaiser's month of January, I have once again used the Hummingbird collection for this layout. The smaller paper paper pads come in handy for the background pieces and I have also used the 12 x 12 sheets. I have added some Kaiser chipboard letters and coloured them with Copic markers and then added some Glossy Accents. Loving the collectables once again and the wooden flourish was coloured with Tim Holtz distress ink.
I used the word Gift and have made a little journal box with the words-
I gave my Mum and Dad
a Gift of a few days
Holiday at Caloundra.

After all they have
given me the GIFT or their LOVE.
Here is the sketch.

Thanks so much for leaving me your lovely comments it really brightens my day.

Kaiser Saturday Sketch January # 3

Well as I said I would be back again today with another Kaiser Saturday Sketch.
This layout is made from the Hummingbird Collection, using the 12 x12 paper as well as the paper pads, and of course the New Collectibles.
I have also used the new Kaiser cardstock and the flowers I have just layered about 8 of them and scrunched them up.
Here is the sketch we had to work with.
Be back with no 4 tomorrow.

Kaiser Saturday Sketch January # 1

Well I am going to have to post each of my Kaiser sketches today, tomorrow and Tuesday to get them all in as I have finished the last one today.
So here is the layout for Saturday Sketch #1
Its a great layout for using up all your bits and pieces of scrap or even your Paper Pads they are just the right size and your not wasting the whole 12 x 12 page.
I am just loving Kaiser's new Cardstock as well it cuts with the Cricut beautifully and also used a couple of EK Success Punches on the page as well.
Sorry the photo is not real great I have been using my daughter's camera as I dropped mine and need to replace it.
Here is the sketch we had to work with.
Until tomorrow Shelley

This is the list of the Cartridges for this weeks challenge
Love you a Latte

Sports Mania
Everyday Pop-Up Cards
Damask Decor
Best of Pixar
I have 2 of these Everyday Pop-Up-Cards and Damask Decor, so I chose to make a card from Damask Decor.
This one is on page 95 and its just called Damask 35, I have added a little extra this week with some pearl rhinestones and a bit of ribbon. I did want to do a 12 x 12 Canvas and use one of these designs but I lost my mojo and came up with this instead.
I hope you like it.

Kaiser Saturday Sketch January # 2

Well I have completed 3 of the Kaiser Sketches but I haven't had time to put them up so here is the one for Saturday Sketch no 2. I have used all Kaiser products for this layout, handmade some flowers and used a Cheery Lyn Die  for the lace look around the flowers and behind the mannequin shape.
This is my Mum and me at Caloundra a few weeks ago, so you will see a few of these photo's as I am determined to get them into an album.
Just a close up of the flowers.
This is the sketch we had to work with,
Hope you enjoy looking at my Layout,
Cheers Shelley

STRUT YOUR CUTS WEEK # 3

Well the weeks are going by so quickly, my son is back at school next week and my daughter will hopefully get a job teaching,  Scrapbooking is my therapy so here is my layout for Mandy at Scrappy-go-Lucky this week.
These are the Cartridge's for this week.

Shall we dance ( Circle exclusive)

Pumpkin Carving
Inspired Heart
Wall Decor and More
B is for Boy
I don't have any of these so I have to fall back on to the back up list, head on over to Mandy to see all the details.
I have used Accent Essentials for the sun, the flourishes, the round balls, square frames. George for the pool fun words and the flowers at the bottom.
Now this is what I love about this challenge is that I have only used the Cricut cartridges no other Die Cuts, no added extras from my stash. And I have actually used a feature from Plantin Schoolbook that I didn't know how or what to use it for.
Can you Guess ???
Well I will tell you, its the END CAPS, they are on every page but I used the one on page 69 called City.
I cut it out normally first and then I realised it doesn't cut the whole thing out so I put it through again and did Shift and the same key and TA DA you have the City at the bottom of the page. I also used the END CAPS on Shadow feature to give it a darker background. I then actually cut the whole thing in half so I could put it at either end of the layout.
If I get enough people responding as to how to do this I will do a post next week and take step by step photo's.
Enjoy Shelley

Sketches with a Twist

Well isn't it always nice to here that someone you have been following on their blog gets an award or even gets on a Design Team. Well my friend Lizzyc from Crumbs of Creativity has done just that.
She is on a new blog called Sketches with a Twist and is a member of their design team. So I thought I would have ago with there first sketch.
The Twist is your LO MUST have a 2 font title

This is what I have come up with, a picture of all of our Dogs. Unfortunately when I started doing this page our little dog Rusty was very sick and he passed away a few days later so this page layout is for him.
So here we have our dog's, Rusty is about 13, Zane is an old soul we call him grandad as he is always just sitting around with his front paws crossed he is about 4, Duke thinks he is the boss and he is about 3, Jasper is my daughter's fiance's dog and he is around 2 and then we have the new kid on the block Angus and he is 14 weeks old, he is a going to be a big dog.
I think this little verse from an older Kaiser paper is so true.
Well I hope you like my first sketch for Sketches with a Twist.
Cheers Shelley

STRUT YOUR CUTS WEEK # 2

Well it's nearly another week over and I have just got my project finished for Mandy's Strut your cuts no 2.
Welcome to Strut your Cut week 2.
If you were too busy to get involved last week join us this week. The FEATURED FIVE CARTRIDGES for week 2 contains one of our all time best sellers (can you guess what it is?) and a few old favourites so I am sure most of you will own at least one of these.:
Create a Critter
Rock Princess
Home Decor
Cuttin’ Up
Graphically Speaking
Head on over to Mandy's site at Scrappy-go-Lucky for all the details.
I have all of these Cartridges except the most popular one which is Create a Critter can you believe that, my friend  Tracey from Trace-Elementz, thinks I should get this one, what do you think ?
Anyway here is my project. I am into Bird cages at the moment I have them hanging out on my back Pergola. Not the normal type for real birds just the ornamental ones for a pretty display. I have used Home Decor which I thought was quite appropriate as this is to decorate my home, to cut out everything on here except for the Phrase True Love which I used Rock Princess.
A close up of the little Birdie's.
There are about 5 different types of flowers on Home Decor and I have used 4 of them.
And the Phrase True love on the inside back of the cage.
Just thought I would also add that i have used the NEW KAISER CARDSTOCK for
the whole project it comes in 71 colours.
Well I hope you like my little Bird Cage project, I am looking forward to seeing what Cartridges Mandy wants us to use for next week.
Enjoy Shelley

STRUT YOUR CUTS WEEK # 1

Happy new year to all of you, this is my first challenge of many I hope for the year 2012.
Mandy at Scrappy-go-Lucky was inspired by another friend of hers Lisa from My Craft Empire to try and use all of her Cricut Cartridges to justify the expense.
The challenge is going to go like this:

Over the course of 2012 Mandy will randomly select five cartridges each week from the 268 cricut cartridges available right now (excluding the imagine carts). From that list of five you use the ones you own (or can borrow) in a project. Challenge starts on Sundays, and concludes on Saturdays.
Here they are:

New Arrivals
Jasmine
Songbird
Sweet treats
Lite Sweet Shop
Remember, we want everyone to be able to participate and use what you own so…if you own NONE of the week’s featured cartridges you may use up to 5 of the following: Gypsy Wanderings, Gypsy font, Craft Room basics, George, Don Juan, Plantin Schoolbook, Accent Essentials or whatever electronic cartridge came pre-loaded on your machine if you have the E2. Head over to see Mandy's blog for more details.
Week 1 challenge closes Saturday 7th January 23.59 Western Australia standard time.

I have used New Arrivals and Jasmine for my page layout. My Niece is pregnant and I thought I would design a few pages or even a whole album to give to her as a present and she can just add the photo's onto the pages.
I used New Arrival first and cut out Mommy on page 82, Rattles on page 109, Baby on page 124 and I made the green shadow feature a little bigger to sit behind the letters.
I then cut the congratulations from Jasmine using the oval shape and I used the shape instead of the letters.
The photo frames are in two sizes and there are Oval frame on page 119, then I cut the oval shape again just using the oval and shift key.
This is such a great idea it has really inspired me to use my Cartridge's what about you?
Cheers Shelley
